Laser irradiation is performed for 5 to 6 minutes per cycle using either a "frontal diffuser" or a "cylindrical diffuser," depending on the location and size of the cancer. The frontal diffuser can irradiate superficial tumors on the surface with a circular light, and the irradiation range can be adjusted from 17 to 38 mm. The cylindrical diffuser involves inserting a needle catheter with a needle into the lesion and placing a fiber optic inside the catheter to irradiate the tumor from within, with light reaching approximately 10 mm around the diffuser.
